9/11 LOST HEROES …. 12 Years Later. (Wednesday, September 11, 2013)

Think back 12 years from now. America was under attack. The Twin Towers were assaulted by 2 passenger jets. Such tragedy, so many were lost that day. Hundreds of Police (50) and Fire Fighters (341) died trying to save lives. Civilian casualties were monstrous.

The September 11 attacks resulted in 2,996 immediate (attack time) deaths: 2,977 victims and the 19 hijackers.[1][dead link] A total of 372 foreign nationals (excluding the 19 perpetrators) perished in the attacks, representing just over 12% of the total. The immediate deaths include 246 victims on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the World Trade Center and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon.[2][3] About 292 people were killed at street level by burning debris and falling bodies of those who had jumped or fallen from the World Trade Center’s windows. All the deaths in the attacks were civilians except for 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon.[4] Some immediate victims were not added to the list until years later.

More than 90 countries lost citizens in the attacks on the World Trade Center.[5] The other countries with the highest losses are the United Kingdom (including the British overseas territory of Bermuda) with 67, the Dominican Republic with 47, and India with 41.

Please take a moment to appreciate what you have in your life. Looking back at that day…can you remember where you were when you heard about the first jet hitting the World Trade Center? I can!

    Loved this WOD : 5 + 1 :)….did pull-ups and ring dips for Muscle-ups….

  3. Ran down to do a quick wod to try to work out soreness after doing 90 deadlifts last night.

    Did a “casual” wod. I still sweat my face off but took my time since we’re doing the comp at Crossfit YQM this weekend. 4+ some box jumps Rx’d…I don’t remember how many box jumps because I missed and gouged my shin on the box…lovely. First time I’ve done that and I didn’t like it.

    After the wod I watched Meghan demonstrate a hybrid kipping/deadhang muscle ups!

  4. Strength – Deadlift – 295lb

    3 + 40 – 24″/modification for Muscle ups

    The bit of extra running is certainly helping make the box jumps feel easier, was even strnging those together more often. The shoulder could really feel that last round of ring dips.
    Yesterday a PR on front squat(150#), today heavy deadlift and feeling good on box jumps. I think I am slowly coming around fromall the injuries. Tomorrow another visit to Dr Dan things are looking up. 🙂
